The Fernand-Léger Outdoor Rink opened in the winter of 2001 as a result of a group of citizens who dreamed of having an outdoor skating rink in Saint-Antoine. A committee of volunteers had been formed for the maintenance of the ice surface. In 2011, a concrete slab was poured and new aluminum boards were installed.

During the winter, the ice rink is open 7 days a week, weather permitting. The heated cabin includes a changing room so people can put on their skates and warm up, as well as a canteen, which is open evenings and weekends. Located near the École Camille-Vautour, the ice surface allows citizens and people in southeastern New Brunswick of all ages to enjoy a schedule of winter activities including skating and pick-up hockey / ringette.

In 2018, the giant snow hill, one of the highest in the region, was moved right next to the outdoor rink and people of all ages can enjoy sledding with their family.

The use of these facilities is on a donation basis, except during periods reserved for ice rentals. Lights have been installed around the ice rink as well as near the snow hill making them accessible in the evening. During the summer season, the concrete surface is used for activities such as ball hockey and group workouts.

A group of volunteers spends hundreds of hours each winter flooding and cleaning the ice. The Fernand-Léger Outdoor Rink committee organizes several activities every winter, including a weekend of outdoor activities in early January and a hockey tournament in February.

FundraisingIn 2017, the Fernand-Léger Outdoor Rink Committee launched an ongoing fundraising campaign to improve and ensure the effective operation of its facilities and organize activities for the citizens of Saint-Antoine and the surrounding areas.

Since the start of the campaign, donations have allowed the committee, to purchase a zamboni, a snowblower as well as upgraded and improved the giant snow hill.

Businesses have the opportunity to promote their business and services by purchasing space on the rink boards for an annual fee. The rink boards are a prime location for advertising. Since winter and summer activities take place on the ice/ concrete surface, sponsors can enjoy special visibility throughout the year.

The design, printing and installation of the advertising space of 4’ x 2’ is provided by a company hired by the committee in order to meet the specifications. The draft must be approved in advance by the participating business. The logo in .PDF or .PNG format or the information to appear in the advertisement must be provided in advance.

Cost for the first year: $ 200 (includes printing)
Renewal cost: $ 100 / year

A letter is sent annually to participating businesses and organizations offering them the opportunity to renew their advertising space.

For all advertising space requests, please contact Tina Bitcon at (506) 525-4020 or loisirs@saint-antoine.ca.
