The municipal council of Champdoré unanimously adopted the strategic plan for the next five years at its regular meeting on November 21, 2023. Last January, a resolution had passed to begin the process of developing a tool to guide the newly founded municipality following the local governance reform.
The consulting firm JGV Consultants Inc. was selected following a request for proposals to support the municipality in the strategic plan development process. Seven public meetings, including four in the municipality’s wards and three on specific themes, were held in the spring of 2023. This series of consultations brought together over 300 people to find out the population’s needs and expectations, identify priorities and give a voice to the citizens of this new local government. A survey was also published on the municipality’s website to allow citizens to share their opinions and suggestions.
“This exercise led us to define the vision, mission, values and priorities for the new Town of Champdoré. This strategic plan will allow elected officials to make decisions that best serve the interests of our citizens, while ensuring effective governance and leadership. The work, efforts and commitment of the working committee, the municipal team and the citizens are proof of collaboration and belonging to our community,” explains Mayor Jean-Pierre Richard.

For the next five years, the municipal council will focus on five key priorities: public safety, municipal effectiveness, well-being and quality of life, development and environmental and sustainable development. The development of an operational plan is underway with the administrative team to implement the priorities identified in the strategic plan. An annual update will demonstrate results achieved and review priorities.
